PalmBeach Zoo

In the 1950's, Paul Dreher, the city's first parks director, created Bacon Park. On 76 acres of Florida swampland, he started a barnyard zoo collection consisting of two ducks, two chickens, one goose, and a goat. The zoo grew, and in 1989 it received accreditation by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA).

A small (23 acres) and rather unusual zoo, it's more like a neighborhood park filled with animals. Roosters, storks, egrets, peacocks, monkeys and most of the other wildlife are "up close and personal" in cage-free habitats.
