Zurkhaneh, Yazd

The Zurkhaneh ("house of strength"), is a uniquely Iranian institution.
It is a sport which cherishes values: Strength combined with chivalry and generosity.

The Saheb A Zaman Club Zurkhaneh in Yazd is the only Zurkhaneh which permits women to watch.
It is located in a beautiful old ice house with four magnificent Badgirs gracing the roof. Certainly one of the most interesting and powerful things I saw in Iran.
