My 12-year-old grandson expressed an interest in learning to photograph birds so our first "outing" was in my backyard where I gave him a brief overview of how to operate the camera controls to set the correct speed and exposure. I also covered how to frame and focus on the subject. After a few throw-away practice shots, he showed real aptitude and was quick to improve the photos he was taking. I also loaded a few of the lesser-quality shots to this gallery to demonstrate the dramatic improvement in the quality of his images. The photo of the Chestnut-backed Chickadee (IMG_6707-1.jpg) hanging on the peanut feeder was first rate, IMO. The colors, exposure and sharpness of that image was such that I would have been pleased to have captured the image myself.
I'll continue to post his future images in this gallery.
