Visits today to increasingly deserted sights because of their remoteness from the normal tourist trail. The visit to the step pyramid at Dashur was especially impressive, the place was absolutely deserted, other than our group. It was also on the edge of the cultivated area, and I am always amazed at the stark transition between desert and arable land.

While shopping for lunch in the town of Al Fayoum, I spotted this ladies clothes shop. The contrast between women dressed in veils, or even full burkas, was something that couldn't go unrecorded.
