Message from Rochelle Cardinale
I am a native Iowan who moved away from Iowa for a few years and then moved back. My love of photography and the outdoors started as a kid following my Dad around on his fishing trips and exploring around my grandparents’ farm. I started taking pictures in grade school, and while still in high school, won an honorable mention for the Iowa State Fair photography contest and was offered a photographic scholarship to an art school. I decided at the time to instead study science in college, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology and a Minor in Archaeology. My work and love of the outdoors have allowed me to travel extensively through the United States, especially in the western states. During my travels, I always continued to carry my camera with me everywhere and learn more about the art. I also learned tae kwon do to help provide a little more security when I am out trying to capture some of these shots :) I hope to show in my work what I have seen in my travels: that on special days, if the time is right, nature shows you some of the most spectacular works of art. These displays are not just limited to the grand national parks, but can be seen in special places right near where you live, if you take the time to know these places well and help take care of them.
