30th June 2009

Another shot from the weekend: Look friends, there's the pike lurking down there again! We haven't spotted it for a while and thought
perhaps a fisherman had taken it. But there it is!
Every time I see it, I think about having a go at catching it myself and taking it home for my supper. The only problem is that it's not much smaller than I am!

Dad: one of the park keepers told us they suspect the pike has been catching ducklings... one duck had a family of nine, but a couple of weeks later they had all disappeared. :-(

other sizes: small medium original auto

Cute shot, love the tones, nice 'petspective'!

Be careful Pooch, you don't want to end up as a pike's lunch. They can grow huge and will eat just about anything that moves.

You never know what's lurking just under the surface...Chris

I'd keep out of there if I were you Pooch, you may become the pike's next course!

Pikes have to eat, too. They catch ducklings here, too. My dad catched pikes weighing up to 18 kg´s. A duckling is just a little snack for them...

So watch out, Pooch. Pikes do eat a lot of strange stuff...

Have you seen the photos of a heron drowning a rabbit and then swallowing it whole?

We have big garfish that eat our baby ducks. They pull them under and drown them; the turtles do the same.

Pooch, be careful! I heard that pooches disappeared there too!

Nasty fish, they will eat anything, although it is more likely the foxes.

Wow! I did not know that Pike ate birds.
