Wishful Thinking

Not a lot of activity here this season. It's hot and bone dry. We are in a "moderate drought" - whatever that means. July rainfall so far is a measly 0.15 inches and all that came over 5 different days throughout the month. Last "significant" rainfall was June 19 when we got 0.37 inches. July average temperature so far is 85.8 F (~30C) which is 11.3 degrees higher than our average July temperature of 74.5F (~24C). Today's predicted temperature 87F and tomorrow 91F.
This is not good for anything...

Oh dear - we've got the opposite problem - too much rain. Pity I can't send you some.....

Our skies threatened rain all day.....but nothing here either. Maybe tomorrow...

That's sad to see. Your glass is definitely far from half-full. Hope you see a break in the drought soon.

I hope it breaks for you soon. It was dangerously dry here through the 4th until it finally started the following weekend. We've made up most of our deficit since then.

We are also in a drought although not as bad as the American mid west. We need rain badly...

I understand! We're in the same boat. We just had a bit of rain but not enough to really soak the land like we need. Our first rainfall that lasted more than a minute (this was maybe 10 or 15 minutes).

I'll send some of our rain down to you Patti! Our roads have been flooded a few times in the last weeks. :-((

Sorry to see this. Been a mild Summer in the Bay Area, but it's gotten a bit normal/hotter this past week. V

Wish we could send you some of our rain, Patti!
We've add tons of the stuff…
But, finally, it's turned a little brighter! :o)

Great shot to convey the message Patti.
…and you think it's bad now, wait to this fall's grocery prices….

Very well conceived and captured image. Certainly not a happy commentary to accompany it, but an appropriate picture. V.

Had 17 drops so far in Northeastern IL! Hoping we got at home! Looks like most of the country needs some rain except for the few places that are flooding! Go figure! At least we don't have to mow!

We've gotten some rain. Sounds like your summer is a bit like our summer last year but not as hot. Take care and save water.
Tom Munson22-Jul-2012 14:58
Not got good, Pattie! The northwest is about the only place in the country that is doing OK.

I know exactly how you feel! We are in a severe drought. Our area is all farmland.
