Is This The Real End To The Yellow Box?

Kodak is in a bad position. There is talk they will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the not too distant future. The company that was one of the DOW 30 years ago is now in danger of being de-listed on the stock exchange because it's stock price closed at "37 cents" on Friday. In the past two weeks, three members of the Board of Directors resigned and the head of Corporate Communications resigned this past Thursday.
It's a bitter pill for the Rochester area. In it's heyday, EK employed around 60,000 people. Now it's probably less than 7,000. Kodak missed the boat on the digital era even though they invented a digital camera back in 1975.

Those were the good old days around here...

Sad but True. They moved to slow with our new modern technology. :-))

Not sure where they went wrong. That will certainly leave a void for film-faithful photogs. Lots of chemical and processing voids too. Sad day.

powerful image, Patti. that is so tough on the community...they had a great run before digital for sure.

My first two digital cameras were Kodak. Sad to read the news. But there are a lot of companies who have filed bankruptcy and are still in business. Nice shot of the Kodak marquee.

Very sad to see what is happening to a company that was once the strongest photographic firm, world wide.

A sad end to a giant in the photo industry. You should keep this as it may not always be there to see. Interestingly, I have lots of Kodak stuff around from my days as a military photographer: Kodak towels, a Kodak ski bag, we used to have a kodak lamp. They used to donate prizes for out annual bonspiel.

Truly sad how things evolve.

I remember when they has 80% market share. You are only too right about missing the boat.

A fine shot to flag up a very sad story, Patti.

So many changes in the world of media and technology that a lot of companies are being left behind.

Sad to see it go away....part of a lot of our lives. I love their paper. I would hate to see that go. Can't find better photo paper.

Yes, this is a sad story and the future looks pretty bleak for this company. Hopefully they will be able to sell off some parts to keep some jobs in the area.

Really sad to hear of kodak's demise.

Sad to say, they have about run their race.

First Kodachrome and now the company! So sad Patti though I like the presentation of this, nice job!

It is sad to hear.....I can fondly remember when Dad would have the Kodak reps in town and would always invite them to our home for supper. Dad made many a trip to Rochester in the 60's & 70's. :-(

A sad story indeed, especially for employment in your area.

I is a real shame! They have been a pioneer in photography that I grew up with. I don't like to see any company go down..
