Everywhere a Sign.jpg

Controversy on our little Island here:
A dangerous intersection that had two stop
signs and a blinking light was changed to a
four-way stop sign and recently changed
to a tiny rotary known as a "roundabout".
The quaintness of our Island would be spoiled
by a traffic light so this was the solution.
Do drivers really need this many signs
to navigate through here now????

Lol, very much to consider approaching this place.

Excellent capture for this subject :)

drivers don't think, that is why they need these signs, it appeals to their subconscious

"Bump" is a bit vague as signs go... one in the road, an accident of the very mild sort or do they want the sign knocked down? ;)

Roundabouts have returned around here as well to "slow traffic" but I'm not sure of their effectiveness yet.

...don´t Bump into the circle! Love it!

Our town is adding roundabouts too. The intersection of the future?

Like us you are oversigned..." let common sense be your guide people!!
Still I guess when you drive on the WRONG side of the road it helps...LOL!! ( Aussie left )

Excellent shot. It took a while to get used to roundabouts when I go here. Second nature now.
Cindi Smith06-Oct-2013 22:13
And go round and round and round and round.......

The problems with roundabouts is that most drivers are not used to them and don't know how to react. I definitely prefer them to traffic lights or stop signs.

So many rules to follow - and you're all driving on the wrong side of the road!! So you can imagine the problems I'd have if I drove there!

You've created a tasteful picture with all those signs. Sad, though to have so many.

That is an abundance of signs for one small roundabout! Good angle in this shot. V

Makes you dizzy already before you reach the roundabout.
Faye White06-Oct-2013 19:00
I agree, well documented. The over abundance of signs is because people won't take responsibility for their mistakes... "But your honor, I didn't know (fill in the blank)." Better than a stop light, methinks.

"Roundabouts" can sometimes be tricky ...... but no amount of signs will change that. Cool shot!
J. Scott Coile06-Oct-2013 18:54
I thought you might do one of your "sign" images...
Coleen Perilloux Landry06-Oct-2013 18:49
Do not need this many signs. We've got so many at intersections you'd think people were complete idiots. If you don't know how to drive, stay off the road. I love Roundabouts.
Gary Hebert06-Oct-2013 18:30
I say NO! ... very nicely documented Bill... :-))

We have 'proper' roundabouts (with grass in the middle), or sometimes the 'mini' roundabout which is just a raised bump painted white or sometimes just a disc of white paint!

We also have a growing number of warning signs, especially approaching road works. As if we didn't have brains!
