Time passes so fast! “Southeast Asian” makes my senses tingle I want to be there I am setting off to Roi after again w/ crew from wallops third time in 21 years. I’m sure it will be a different place again your galley “Rockets Science” brings back a time I’d love to walk through again thanks for the memory refresh Glenn Maxfield

Namur was the first of four D-Days I made (Saipan, Tinian, Iwo Jima) with the 4th Marine Division. I was just in from the crane on the pier when the torpedo warheads exploded. It was absolutely the most terrifying experience of the war for me.

Your pictures are wonderful - I really appreciate them.

Thanks for the great pictures. My dad was on Rio-Namur with the Fighting Seabees (he told me he knew John Wayne) and I can only imagine what it must have be like in 1944. He did tell me about guarding a beach one night and imagined seeing the whole Japanese fleet sail by. His name was RO Williams from Blue Island, Illinois.
