12th October, Culzean Castle

Boom!
Another cannon ball is shot from the ramparts of Culzean Castle.
The piddly little cannons are just ornamental really,
this castle is more of a stately home tittivated to resemble a castle.
It was used as the 'home' of Lord Summerisle in the cult film 'The Wickerman'

That's me up to date with the daily pics now after our holiday! I picked this one ahead of the emu. I've a lot more holiday ones to sort through later as well...

It's pronounced cul-ayn - the 'z' is silent, in much the same way that Menzies is pronounced 'Mingis'. While we're at it, Milngavie is pronounced Milguy, and Dundee is pronounced 'Dump' (only kidding). Yours, the pronunciation man.

What I want to know is who did what to him to provoke that kind of attack!

Yes, I'm also tittivated, along with virginiacoastline, while viewing the action photo! I must visit Cul ZEE ann.

I always call it that, but I overheard somebody calling it 'Kull-ayn', so I may have to stand corrected :-)

I remember camping near this castle when I was 11, a day after my elder brother had crashed the car in Glencoe! Now you are going to tell me its not pronounced 'Culzean' at all, aren't you?

I hope that thing isn't pointed at Bute! :-o
