Path to Aziz's village

Near Kush, north of Mastuj

By the time we had crossed the suspension bridge (last photo), being careful not to fall through where planks were broken, it was almost 8 P.M. and dark (these photos are taken the next day coming back from Aziz's village - a 1 1/2 hour trek in the daylight). Aziz carried a long chrome flashlight (at times to help point the way) and his cousin (and brother-in-law) Nadir Khan carried a watermellon. The path led along an irrigation ditch over the churning river, which could not be seen in the dark.
