We are fifty miles west of Polson, Montana, our destination, having dodged stormy weather
all the way from western Washington. But a dark cloud looms, and Air Traffic Control
warns us of intense lightning and precipitation twenty miles ahead. We divert to
Thompson Falls, where we find wonderful Montana hospitality - after check-in at the
Falls Motel, the owner cheerfully offers beer. "That's the way we do things here", she says.
