This male is hard at work enlarging the nest which contains chicks. He would leave with a mouth full of wood chips , go to an ajoining tree, spit them out and return to continue his days work!!

Fantastic capture! I've seen chickadees doing this, but never succeeded in getting such a sharp shot as you have with this sapsucker. And to see this species excavating would be a treat!! ~V~
