Monuments To An Era by: Don Lynch

Gillette Castle: Haddam, Connecticut. William Gillette (1853 – 1937), an actor whose claim to fame was playing Sherlock Holmes. His castle (home) had a miniature railroad that traveled around his estate. He was known to entertain visitors by giving them rides.

Stone grotto / steel tracks...sure, why not. The tracks certainly look out of their element which creates some visual tension here. It's a nice shot.

Hi,
I like historical pics, your story sounds like Hearst castle Ca. that I visited many years ago. Not being an expert, I tried to use the burn tool on a 50 % grey overlay, especially on the rock towers. They do seem to come out better after that. Paul.
