Hands
Singapore, September 2007

There is a wonderful sculpture at the side of the river which is depicts a collection of children jumping into the river. It pulses with life. Here I will place phils picture when I find it.

There is just something about partitioned arms or body parts that attract my eye. By singling out these particular hands you make a point of gesture, of reaching out. I wonder if you had shot more of the sculpture if you would have captured such a powerful gesture. The smaller hand is reaching out to hte larger one, which in turn is reaching out to something else...perhaps something or someone larger or more important. There could be a myriad of interpretations all of which are powerful. Great work!

Well abstracted. The gestures are so real, we do a double take. I did not post a picture of this statue grouping on pbase, but Ai Li did photograph me shooting there. You can see it athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/86345111
