I think Photoshop would help. CS5 > filter > lens correction.

Distortion at wide angle produces hilarious pictures if a person is at the border of the frame. Do you have any idea about how to correct this (even in post-processing) ? Thanks.

Just a very minor distortion could be noted in 24mm. For such a lens with a high zoom power, distortion should be unavoidable, expecially in the wide angle end, so I guess there should be an in-built software processing to the images to correct the distortion.
