Mamallapuram

Mamallapuram was a kingdom created by early Tamil dynasty between 5th and 8th centuries. The landscape reminded me of Hampi with huge boulders everywhere, but the surroundings are much more lush than Hampi.

The objects in every photo between the huge boulder (Krishna's Butter Ball) and the man with the coconuts was carved out of one gigantic rock.

I need to do some research to find out more about the carvings.

There is no special story about the butter ball.... It just looks like a butter ball! And we have always attached special meanings to the natural formations... Krishna one of the hindu gods was known to love butter when he was a kid. Such a nice natural formation thus needs to get that name (of course IMHO).

This place is amazing.

Wonderful pictures.... Makes me want to go back! Wait a minute, I was there for a few moments :)
