Just Venezia...

Venezia is a site of the spirit, a casket of memories, a symbol of the fragile link between joy and melancholy…
I have not the presumption to know Venezia (allow me to call it by its own Italian name, it’s not any snobbish whim, it’s a tribute) as well as Venetians, but I think I know it a little better than many other foreigners.
I have been there so many times, during so many years; I have lived there for a while as a student; I have learnt to love it and to perceive its silent voice among the noise, the clichés and the flashiness.
Venezia always moves me and fills me with joy at the same time.
I have just tried to put some of my emotions in images to share with you.
A whim, a fancy…A wish to share the images of a town, which is familiar to me and, every time, is able to fill me again with a brand new joy.
I have tried to capture the essence of my wandering in simple illustrations.
Glance through the pages of this virtual notebook, if you feel like, at a slow pace, nearly at homeopathic dose.

After all Venice is also that...	Peeping over the roof tops...	A story to guess behind every window...	Out of time pure beauty...	Well, I know this is a classic...
Of course we went there as well...	Canal view...	Laundry in the sun...	The porch...	Which way?
Someone drives fast...	After all Venice was one of the Maritime republics...	The only way to perceive Venezia's spirit....	A request...	The golden hour before sunset...
Just after sunset...	By boat...	At dawn the sun came out from the mist...	Not only gondolas...	Golden Symbol...
The Devil's Bridge...	The maze entry...	"Charge!!!!"	The amateur fisherman	And then the first clients arrive to the market...
Rialto Market workers unload crates of fresh fish from the boats...	There is so much to organize at the fish market...	Fish lovers' paradise...	Then the fishmongers arrange the just arrived fresh seafood...	Rialto Market starts living every day at dawn...
The best time to go to Rialto Market...	And then the first tourist arrived...	Sometimes it's even possible to see San Marco square totally empty...	Rising sun in Venetian mist	Sometimes certain "streets" are a bit too narrow...
A quiet parking lot...	Looking at San Michele island, the cemetery of Venice...	3XL Gondola...	Honey Moon???	It looks like a classic cliché scene , but...
Il Campiello	The only boats which should be allowed in Giudecca canal...	And suddenly a yellow little house....	The golden world...	Waiting...
Unforgettable "Carpaccio" of fresh fish	Looking down at "Rio delle Due Torri"	Walking off the beaten path...	Bridge after bridge, going nowhere...	Where have all the people gone?
Discovering a secret "Campiello"...	The Housewife who likes purple colour....	The Doge's dawn...	The technological gondolier	An unusually deserted " Riva degli Schiavoni"
At sunrise everything is luminous but not clear...	The pigeon, the bride and the gondolier…	Private bridge...	It was our "Altana" for too few days...	Not only canals...

Marisa, you've captured some wonderful photos of Venice. I can't imagine how you did some of these. When we were there it was simply not possible to photograph anything without having 653.71 tourists in the frame! V
