Detail

Mosaic flooring at the entrance of a traditional drapers shop in
Church Street, Dundalk.
This shop has changed little down the years.
It sells men's clothing (note I don't say fashions) and a pair of braces can just be seen on the upper left hand corner, as well table clothes, tea towels and bed linen.

Hey, give me clothing over fashion any day. I may not be the tallest guy in the world (nor am I by any means the shortest) but I get sick to death of picking a pair of trousers off the rack and, holding them up to match my ankle level, finding that the waistband is at my armpits. Not to mention shirts that are designed for a theoretical scrawny body possessed by maybe 10% of the population. Until recently a chain here called Fletcher Jones sold good, basic clothes with trousers in a good range of waist and leg sizes. Unfortunately it croaked recently. I hope the same fate does not befall Connell & Co, which looks like it's a similar place. The mono tends to emphasise the "older style" (I hesitate to say "old fashioned" nature of the store.

I like clothing shops, fashion is over rated
