Yesterday's View

This is a view from yesterday's walk at Rochmarshall Woods, looking across to Trumpet Hill and Dundalk in the distance.
I've decided not to be obsessive about posting a fresh image every day, especially this time of year. I was woken from my slumbers this morning by my husband telling me that there had been a power failure the night. No electricity meant no central heating, no light and worse still, no boiling water for tea. As I stumbled around in the semi-darkness I forgot to put a camera in my bag before going to work. By the time I got home, it was dull and overcast, although the wind had dropped somewhat.

That is a cracking shot. What a stunning landscape and view.
The light in the first 2 really reminds me of Constable paintings.

Beautiful clouds and light on the green countryside. Very nice composition with the big, old tree.

Some more of that chilly mid-winter Irish light. It makes you want to rug up and find a nice warm cup of coffee.
(Well, it would THERE, not so much HERE since as I type this it's in the mid 30's with the humidity of a Turkish bath outside today, but even then the image still has a coolness about it.)
That's unless you're a golden Lab in which case your interest isn't in the light but rather how long you have to wait before you can get on with your walkies.

Fantastic views, I like the names too. There must be a story behind Trumpet Hill.

At first I thought I don't like that tree there - but it works well giving a sense of scale to the countryside

That tree in the foreground has a surreal presence in this landscape! I love the green contours and golden tones too! V

This large tree makes the surrounding countryside look a little like Lilliput.
