Upside Down World

It's an upside down world. The bankers and property developers who contributed so much to Ireland's financial crisis have, in the main, got off scott free while people who have lost their jobs are having their homes reprocessed. A new survey found that one in three people will find themselves in debt because of Christmas spending this year, there's been a dramatic increase in the numbers sleeping rough on the streets of Dublin, and the number of people with mortgage arrears continues to grow.

So well done, and such an excellent commentary on our world today!
And guess what... stores opened at midnight in this country following our Thanksgiving dinner/ holiday and hoards of people descended to scoop up the bargains and to probably rack-up more personal debt. I just don't get it! V

Our economy in Houston has been okay throughout, and I thank God every day for that. Of course, we have a two year drought instead. This is a grey, dismal photo, and very appropriate. V

A great photo and a very apt reflection on our world today. v

Great reflections, your observation is true; the people must prevail. V

Wonderful photo - like that it's mostly the reflections showing.

A wonderful interpretation of this dismal situation.

I like this. It's a bit like the opening chapter of Dickens' Great Expectations!
Frank Brault21-Nov-2011 23:56
An excellent photo and photographic metaphor. V

You're right the world has gone barmy. Can I turn the right way up now?

Nice reflections!

A fabulous photo, belying the grimness of the situation, which sounds too familiar. It is not so bad in Canada (yet), but things are grim, and I know from following what is happening in Ireland, that it is particularly tough. VV

The celtic tiger's stripes are getting paler by the day.

It's the same the world over. I prefer your view of the upside down-ness.

Clevery composed reflections to go with your title and story.
