Buns or Cupcakes

I'm not sure when buns became cupcakes. I do know that the plain buns dipped in jam and desiccated coconut which we made at school bore no resemblance to the beautiful creations on display in the schools cupcake competition at the Taste of Louth foodfair today. I'm sure they tasted as good as they looked but unfortunately they weren't for sale.

So lovely! Almost too pretty to eat. Cannot figure out why cupcakes have taken off like they have in popularity. They used to be considered a very homey dessert particularly enjoyed by the children but now they have become quite extravagant!

Beautiful image, very finely exposed. The colours and handiwork, of porcelain maker, baker and photographer, are all a joy to behold.

This is such an enticingly delicious and elegant presentation. Too pretty to eat I think. I never thought there was a connection between buns and cupcakes! I remember buy buns from bakeries when I was growing up in Britain and they certainly weren't like cupcakes! VV

Oooh - lovely presentation - and the focal plane just right for the icing, ribbon and rim of the cup - perfect :o) I fear that 'cupcake' is another invading Americanism :o(
