If there's one advantage of growing older it's a better realisation of the things that really matter in life, of knowing who the important people are, those who really care for you and those who will stand by you though thick and thin (and stupid).
Some birthdays give you the chance to take stock of your life, to appreciate all that's good, and hope that the years ahead will be similarly blessed.
