Meet Gobby

Gobby is the biggest and most interesting resident of our fish tank, but
I'm ashamed to say I can't remember what he is. He was bought as a
replacement for Wally the Hillstream Loach.
We got the fish tank about five or six years ago, starting out with goldfish.
We ( or should I say my husband) did everything by the book - the water
was changed regularly and tested to see that the ph was correct, the
fish weren't fed too much or too often. But sadly the gold fish, named
after the Irish world cup squad of 2002, took ill and died, mostly from
swim bladder disease. After that, because Wally the Hillstream Loach
continued to thrive, we turned up the temperature and got guppies, tetras,
mollies and swordtails. Slowly, we lost interest in the tank, changed the
water less frequently, stopped sitting and gazing at the fish, but we still
fed them. The population dropped to a few swordtails. Then, one day,
we noticed tiny baby swordtails. Our fish were multiplying. We've now
got several generation of swordtails and every so often, we spot a
couple of babies swimming around. We're not sure why we've had this
totally unexpected success with swordtails but we suspect that it may
be due to the fact that they do well in 'hard' water. The tank may be
a bit boring with all the swordtails and Gobby but at least the fish
are healthy and presumably happy.

Hello Gobby. An impressive looking fish. Like the photo. The detail is excellent and I like Gobby's position in the frame. You guys must be doing a lot right to have your fish reproducing.

You can tell just by looking at him that he's happy! A nice image with the colorful plants on either of that most interesting creature.

A nice through the glass shot, I can confirm for you Gobby is indeed a fish.

Haven't a clue what Gobby is, but that's a great capture of him! V

We live parallel lives...my daughter wanted an aquarium and since I love aquariums as a child, we started our little
hobby last summer. We went through the initial period of excitement with all the joys of water testing and making
sure the nitrogen cycle was underway. As time went on we lost some fish, mostly to inexplicable reasons...we still
clean and feed. We are down to neon tetras, rummy nose tertras and mountain minnos. We now think it is a waste
of money to buy test kits. I must say your aquarium looks to be in great shape with a lovely decor.V

He's a fish. 8^>
Lovely amount of detail in this; no issues with reflections or distortion from shooting through the glass. I like the way you've framed Gobby coming out from behind the plants, almost as if he's coming out to meet the viewer.

A lovely clear picture - fish tanks are often difficult to record. Well done!
