Poor Molly - she's missing the party. A mascot for the 2002 World Cup, Molly, like the rest of
the Irish population, is feeling left out of all the excitement surrounding the World Cup.
It's a bit of an understatement to say that I'm not a football fan but when national pride is
at stake and the chance to join in the party, I could be as good a fan as the next.
Most of all I regret that my son is missing the huge excitement and pride which engulfed the
nation in the years that Ireland did qualify for the World Cup, especially the first time,
Italia 90.
As Ireland aren't playing this year, I've decided that I will support Italy, and who knows,
I might even join the locals and watch some of the games when we are there later in the tournament.
