Feeling Sheepish

I have to confess that I'm feeling a bit sheepish regarding my Photo A Day targets
recently. What started out as an exciting challenge is, of late, becoming a bit of
a chore. I thought that once winter was over, the longer brighter days of spring
and summer would make the task easier, but no, I find that there are days when
I'm still struggling to produce an image, and words to accompany it. But I'm going
to stick at it until I've completed a year and then I'll have a review. Is it
better to force oneself to take and upload a pic every day, even if the pic turns
out to be extremely mediocre at best, or to be more selective in what one
shares?

As someone who is totally intimidated by the idea of participating in a PAD ... I wish to tell you how very much I admire and enjoy yours. Do not underestimate your posting and however you decide to do it - it will work... AND I do not get tired of sheep, horses, flowers, your landscapes or your new puppy dogs or your Toffee-Cat... ~V~

No reason to feel sheepish about this shot! Great expression capture, excellend DOF and framing. Clearly I'm not the one to advise on sticking to a PAD, although admittedly I'd be back to it had my home computer (the one where PhotoShop lives) not decided that it no longer likes its RAM modules and I have to install a new set. GAH!

I understand your feelings about the PaD. I wrestled with those same thoughts, and decided to change my attitude. My PaD is a visual diary, not the next shot for my portfolio. I have other galleries where I can put the photos that pass Quality Control. My PaD is not perfect and sometimes a bit boring, just like my life.

I changed the name of my PaD to Daily Snapshots and treat it like a visual blog Remember, it is easy to get intimidated by those who post fabulous works, but they most likely have much more time to devote. Your musing are clever and your photos are quite good!! Please keep the PaD. V

A great shot and I hope you won't pack up your Pad. The photos are very good and the explanations below are superb.

Such a face! In my opinion, it's best to post every day. Anyway, your mediocre is better that a lot of people's best.

That's why I don't do PADs! Great portrait though.

A wonderful portrait, I never tire of the looks that sheep give and this one is just great. "V"
With regard to the PaD, mine is in Year 3, and all I can say is that it gets better the longer you do it. Phil's comment is right on the mark!

And a very sheepish looking sheep! They would look better without the plastic ear-rings though.

It is a very handsome sheep!! And I was immediately drawn to it, a lovely capture. V

well sheepish yes, but also alert and inquisitive...and your musings strike a resonant chord...in the end it's probably most gratifying to post when you are at least semi-sure that the image has some value...it would seem the enjoyment of the pbase community interaction could readily be undermined by feeling obliged to join in every day...there are times when you can just catch your breathe, and pick up the thread again a day or two later..or whenver seems appropriate...

It does look like it has earrings :-) As to your ponderings, you have to decide what works for you. If you can stand what you call "mediocre shots", then hey that's the best you had that day. Don't be too hard on yourself - either for not posting each day nor what you call your mediocre shots.

What an odd looking long-faced sheep!
The first year is the worst I think... keep at it :o)

I adore the sheepish grin and curly-q earrings on this little darling!
