May, or Bealtaine as it's called in Irish, should be one of my favourite months.
The days are longer, the weather is warming up, the birds are singing and flowers
are blooming, all in all, making it a perfect month for getting out and about
taking photographs.
But, and it's a big but, it's also the month that my hay fever kicks in. I'm not
quite sure what it is I'm allergic to although I've long suspected that it's pollen
from hawthorn, but whatever it is, May is a month of misery for me. I know
hay fever is not life threatening but it casts a blight on my life and those around
be as I moan and grumble.
A wuzzy head that feels like it's enduring the morning after the night before even
if it isn't, sore throat, sore ears, a red nose, and shivers all make me miserable and
miserable to be around.
I came home from town today armed with 40Euros worth of pills and potions in
the hope that they will help me survive the month. And should I win the Lotto
tomorrow, I'll be on the first plane out of here to somewhere that hawthorn
doesn't grow!
