What is it about cats and books? Or cats and anything which raises them up above a surface.
I've seen Toffee choose to sit on a single sheet of paper on the desk or on my son's homework
as he studies at the table.
In the daily photo opportunity that is my lunch break I was contemplating arranging the
books I'd got in the library the other day into some sort of a still life. Until Toffee sat on
them. Lacking the time and inspiration to do anything else, I decided to shoot the cat again.
But I promise I'll keep Toffee out of my PAD for a while. For a week at least.

No, no! Don't stop taking photos of Toffee. He is one of the most adorably beautiful cats I have seen, and you do such an super job of taking his portrait. VV

Toffee is such a perfect model! I'm fairly certain he would like to be part of your PAD gallery on a regular basis. ;) V

In my opinion Toffee simply loves Italy, he has finished the books underneath and waiting for more to enjoy. Anymore question?

What a great model - cats are good to shoot! ;O)
Neal Nye13-Feb-2010 12:19
No need to keep one of the world's favorite cats out of your PAD! What a handsome lad, so perfectly positioned between the seed pods in the background.

King's & Queens of the castle...I'm sure that's what cats see themselves as :)) Toffee's welcome on my computer any day !!
Kevin Chester13-Feb-2010 10:29
Maybe Toffee doesn't want you to go to Italy.
Patricia Kay13-Feb-2010 10:27

Lovely cat portrait! When I work at home, I always set up a decoy pile of papers for Bailey to sit on. Once he's settled, I can get out my *real* papers.

"Yeah hoomin. I haz other ideas" says Toffee, neatly positioning himself in front of the lens for tomorrow's PAD. (Or perhaps he was just smart enough to see how well the light would fall on him for today's one.)

This is as good a still life photo as they get.
I don't know what it is with kitties and papers either, but every cat I've ever had has done the same thing. Recently with Virby we've had fun with a stack of slippery magazines. Such fun.
Yvonne13-Feb-2010 03:26
What a gorgeous cat, how can you not include Toffee! v
Jason Anderson13-Feb-2010 03:19

I never get tired of Toffee portraits. He's such a handsome boy!
globalgadabout13-Feb-2010 02:37
there's a look that tugs at your heartstrings...oddly enough I've just recently picked up the same Italy book...perhaps I can rub whiskers with Toffee this spring in Umbria..
January Grey13-Feb-2010 00:40
I think Toffee was trying to tell you it was time for another portrait! It's much sweeter than a pile of books! V~

Maybe she has literary asperations! A great portrait. Well done.

Toffee has pleading eyes ~ please take my picture mom!!! Who could resist? :-)))
Phillip Normanton12-Feb-2010 20:43
Aww, poor Toffee - can't you see the pleading to continue modelling in those eyes?? =^^=
slhoornstra12-Feb-2010 20:35
One of the best cat portraits I have seen!! Toffee is an excellent model. Beautiful color and light. Cats sit on anything that makes them the center of attention at my house. After all, they are that important. V
