And a cat in the Christmas tree.

Not a particularly good shot but one I couldn't resist posting. In my defence, I must say
it's not easy shooting an excited gymnastic cat in poor lighting conditions.
Ever since he was a kitten, Toffee has been fascinated by the Christmas tree. Climbing, obviously,
comes naturally to cats, so he thinks that all his Christmases have come at once when we put
up the tree. What was cute when he was just a little kitten isn't nearly so funny now, as there's
a real danger that he could topple the tree over.
The fun began when the tree was taken down from the attic. Once the box was opened he
jumped in and sat amongst the branches. As our son began to assemble the tree, Toffee
first treated the trunk as a scratching pole, and as the branches were added, decided to
scale it.
As a result of his exertions and the fear that he might electrocute himself should he
chew the lights, he is now banned from the sitting room unless under supervision.

So comical...he must wait all year for Christmas just so he can climb the tree. How cute he looks & so comfortable...maybe a tree of his own would help :)))

That's the way to do it Toffee!

Had to smile when I saw this and read your description. Sounds like Toffee is the center of attention at your house. V

He must be a mischievous cat! Cute catch!

What a lovely cat Toffee is, and of course Christmas trees are so attractive! Great funny capture.

endearing shot of the upside down Toffee joining in the celebrations...healthy sign that he is still curious and playful..V

Lovely! Everybody seems to know similar stories. Our dogs were also fascinating by the Christmas tree. Mainly by the chocolate decorations, though. We had to hang them high, out of the dogs' reach. Uschi (V)

Ohhh, I just love this photo!! Toffee is such a gorgeous cat and Toffee in the Christmas tree is priceless! However, I can see why he has been banished temporarily - for his own good. Now does he know that :-) VV

This is such a cute shot of Toffee! I have visions of Miles doing the same thing so I don't even try to put up a tree. haha!

Wonderful captures of Toffee doing what comes natural to him. Our Diego never climbs the trees, but does like swatting at the ornaments and drinking or playing with the water.

So cute! They do love to play with Christmas trees! Long ago, had a cat that toppled the tree while we were sleeping! What a mess! But really funny at the time. Toffee shows all the curiosity we'd expect from a kitty. And you captured it beautifully! V~

Caught in the act! Our cats no longer scale the tree, but at night when we are sleeping, they take great delight in batting the ornaments off the tree and then chasing them around the living room. ~V~

What an adorable image but not a task (keeping the cat out of the tree) I'd want to have to do.

Ha, brilliant, great story too! V

LOL I see what you mean, a difficult shot to get. Brilliant

Aw, poor Toffee. In jail for Christmas for a misdemeanour. Oh, yes, and for his own safety too.
Colin Storey13-Dec-2009 22:22
Lol, great shot and story, cat banned from living room is great.

This is the funniest photo Mairead!!! And you captured Toffee so perfectly! BV!

I had a rabbit, Bonnie, who also loved to get up into the Christmas tree. We no longer put a large tree in the room with our new rabbit, Violet, for fear she too will also climb the tree. LOL!
