A rainy day shot ...only it wasn't raining.

I bought some Chinese Lanterns at the FlowerMarket a few weeks ago.
I thought they would bring some colour to the dark days of late October and although
it will soon be time to put up the Christmas decorations, I am reluctant to throw them out.
They were to provide me with a back-up for a rainy day, and although it wasn't raining today,
they caught my eye when I was home at lunchtime.
They also remind me of the time when we could watch foreign language and art house films
like 'Raise the Red Lantern'. With one teenager and one television, our choice of movies is now
dictated by what we'll allow him to watch and what he will agree to watch. With the typical
dubious morality of most Irish parents, we are more willing to let him watch films with 'strong
language and bloody violence' than ones with passionate lovemaking.
The one clink of light on the horizon is that he is studying German so hopefully we will
have a German film season coming up shortly. He has already seen 'Run Lola Run' at
school and enjoyed it so now I just have to hunt down some German titles.

Very nice. I also love the movie (both, actually) and it is always good to keep flowers in the house in winter when we are inside. V

Doesn't look like they need to be thrown out quite yet. You have made a great image here with the lanterns in good focus and a beautiful background. Well done.

Oh! don't throw them out - you can have hours of fun with them as they "mature" !! I love the rich orange red.-

Lovely glowing red and a simply gorgeous smooth background with complimentary tones.
