09-OCT-2009

It was dull, wet and miserable for most of the day - perfect weather for staying indoors and painting. True to
my word, I helped my other half with painting the bathroom, although admittedly my contribution was simply
assisting with washing down the walls with sugar soap. Not a glamourous job but an essential one.
Not many photo opportunities presented themselves so this is just a quick snap of the orchid I bought yesterday.
I used to think orchids were massively expensive exotic plants. Maybe they once were but not any more as they can
now be purchased in supermarkets. I got one earlier in the year which flowered right through the summer, so I decided to buy this one until I can hopefully coax the other one back into bloom.

Excellent image. Reading about your weather seems just like it's here - dull and rainy. I figure we're both due for some great weather any day now :-)

I'm enjoying your text as much as your photos. This was such a good idea. May your orchids bloom forever!

A beautiful orchid, Mairead! A lovely subject to photograph on a rainy day! V~

Love the subtlety here. The supermarket orchid blossoms can last a long time, but I've never managed to keep one alive long enough to bloom again :o(
