New fashions from old

A recent trend here in Ireland has been to recycle old china cups and saucers and present them in mismatched sets. They are to be found in some pleasant coffee shops, and now retail stores are selling them in single lots of cup, saucer and plate combined. They are rather expensive, with this small part of a set now almost as dear as a complete set of half a dozen cups, saucers and plates would have cost some years ago. But they still look very pretty and colourful, and I think tea tastes nicer in a fine bone china cup than in a thick mug!

The same trend has been occuring here for some time. I think it looks quite pretty.

So pretty Maire. I like china for tea and chunky, heavier mugs for coffee!

A delicate and elegant composition! I agree with what is said about the better taste out of fine bone china but have to admit that a bigger mug feels better in my hands.V

They sure are a fine subject for a beautiful still life. V

Yes, I certainly agree about the taste of tea in a china cup! This is an exquisite photo, redolent of more elegant, dare I say, slower times. VV
