Deer Beneath

Sugar Land, Texas

PLEASE VIEW IN ORIGINAL SIZE
Our deer are small in this part of Texas.
Better to hide in prairie land and no need for long legs when there is no snow.

January
by John Updike

The days are short
The sun a spark
Hung thin between
The dark and dark.
Fat snowy footsteps
Track the floor
And parkas pile up
Near the door.
The river is
A frozen place
Held still beneath
The trees' black lace
The sky is low.
The wind is gray.
The radiator
Purrs all day.

Wonderful textured framework and then focusing on the sharp details of the trees and the deer as the focal point of this presentation.V

Love the presentation. I don't use this word often, but the deer are "amazing". Wonderful catch.

I'm sure they're feasting on the fallen Pecans. Very nice touch with the "looking glass" presentation.
