The top of the foreground shadow is about eight feet (2m) away. It is the edge
of a precipice that has absolutely no barrier of any kind. One can easily walk
or drive over the edge without encountering the slightest resistance---what a
liberating thought! Beyond the precipice is a vast, deep expanse of air. To take
this shot, I followed the admonition of the voice I heard (see previous photo):
I parked the car before handling the camera.
This stream canyon leads down to the Colorado River, a muddy strip just below
the dark green vegetation in the left center of the picture. Above the river
are the ragged cliffs of the Goose Neck. Atop those cliffs is the level, light
green expanse of the Goose Neck's mesa, topped by the red ridge. Behind
the ridge are the snow-covered La Sal Mountains.
The picture's title is a reference to popular entertainment of 1972.
Can you decipher the hidden meaning?
