A reunion with the Indigo-banded Kingfisher

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

Just to break the "monotony" of wetlands birding, I visited my favorite spot in Tiaong, Quezon province, where this beautiful endemic kingfisher holds court.
It always makes an appearance whenever I come to this place, and this December 29 visit was no exception. But I had to wait the whole day and endure nasty
mosquito bites before I was able to behold its beauty. The bird is not as approachable as that I captured in 2005, but I was given the privilege of a few shots nonetheless.
Once again, I had to resort to super-slow shutter speeds to expose the bird using available light it its dark habitat .
