4th March 2005 - enigma

Jeanne’s hubby Tony has been something of an enigma for me. I’ve heard loads but know nothing about this man who holds our Jeanne’s heart.

I must say this made me nervous. I was really worried that we’d irritate him – you know, we’re from ‘another world’ and taking up the time and energy of Jeanne. I worried that he’d hate the intrusion of pbase into his home by having us here.

Not so (at least I don’t think so) – he’s a lovely chap, full of hospitality and charm. We arrived late, by the time we’d cleared customs and met up with Jeanne, we were more than an hour behind where we thought we would be.

We went to the beach and saw this……a wonderful sunset. We’d all been taking photos of reflections in the water, having been inspired by Mona Kuhn’s wonderful seaside shot hanging in Jeanne & Tony’s living room. I saw this shot of Tony but couldn’t get his whole shadow with the standard horizontal composition so I tilted my camera and got this.

Well, I’m chuffed with it and given that I’ve had four hours sleep in the last 48 hours I think it’s going to have to do.

Last year my dreams came true, though it took a long time for the result to materialise and my photo was weird!

Reminds me of those old photo's of nuclear tests where the servicemen stood looking at the blast! Suspect you're going to have a great time!

The truth is Linda that because of the lack of sleep you were merely falling over and pressed the shutter as you fell?? ;)) Actually takes bottle to take such a sunset at that angle and it's worked extremely well. Enjoy your stay both of you!

I love this, Linda. I agree -- Tony was a perfect host (and so was Jeanne) and he's got GREAT taste in music!

The slant and the brightness of sun shining on Tony really make this photo other worldly. Almost apocolyptic - but in a good way - not the one we always hear about. The one where the sun sets one last time.. and we all know it.. and we get to sit on the beach with the ones we love.. and tell them so. And all is calm because there are no surprises.

I'm not drunk.. I swear. :D
