Oh my now there’s a big one!
David and I have just come back from two hours in the woods with the dogs. We’ve got a whole four days of freedom from work and the associated worries. I couldn’t believe my luck when I found myself at an off-site Board Meeting in a hotel much closer to my home than the office AND an agenda that ended at 3pm…..now it’s rare that I celebrate Board Meetings but this one has kick-started our bank holiday weekend nicely.
I had thought it was a big mistake holding it on Maundy Thursday – I was expecting it to go on till 5.30pm just as the traffic reaches its peak with what always seems like the entire country on the roads all at once….does EVERYONE really go away for the bank holiday? This is one day of the year when I always travel to the office by train after a particularly grim journey home in the car one year (about 30 miles) that took four hours. It feels like being in a pack of lemmings….and you certainly want to jump off a cliff after that experience.
Even after a 45 minute chat with a few colleagues after the meeting, I was still home before 4.30pm and as I was coming up the road it seemed like a good day to have a really long walk with the dogs. The weather was nice(ish) and there was enough time before sunset. What could be better? So, the dogs got loaded in the car and we set off to the woods.
We walked further than we usually do so I feel as if we’ve had some good exercise and fresh air already this holiday.
Some would say we look like a strange couple wandering around in the woods, both with cameras and dog leads slung round our necks. Even though we have walked for miles, the progress is quite slow because one of us is always pointing a camera at something!
David has been like a pig in muck since we came back from the USA with his two spanking new lenses and desperate for somewhere to go to put them through their paces. In fact, I think all his photos since we’ve come back have been taken with one or other of them. Today was the occasion for giving the long zoom a good testing. So, in the spirit of unity I thought this shot of him playing with the new lens taking photos of romping dogs was a good PotD.
Now it’s just gone 8pm here and I’ve been home, been walking and written and posted my PotD, that’s a first. We may even get supper tonight before 10pm!!! All I have to do now is enjoy the weekend……bliss.
