The Webster st. bridge used to be a lift bridge,the river rd.,Delaware ave. and TCMH bridges did not exist when this was built and i'not sure of the if the Webster one was before or after.I heard someplace that i this did open once and that was it.

I used to jump off the cement counter weight in 55-57,hitting the water was a blast.

we used to hide underneath the tracks on the nt side and feel the vibration from the train underneath, pretty fun as a kid growing up in nt

This is known as The Bascule Bridge. It never opened because there were lower fixed bridges on either side of it. Duh! (Enter Polish jokes here.)

This is the train bridge over the Canal. It's at Sweeney Street and Oliver Streets. The concrete is on the North Taonawanda side of the bridge. The other side of the bridge is in Tonawanda. I'm surprised it's still there and still in use.
