Nursery Web Spider with Eggsac

Copyright © Lewis Scharpf

Pisaurina mira
Female with eggsac.
After laying her eggs, the female wraps them into a silk eggsac.
She carries the eggsac in her chelicerae (mouthparts) until the eggs hatch.
At hatch, the female makes a "nursery" in which the eggs hatch.
The nursery consists of a few leaves woven together with silk.
This forms a protective pocket into which the eggsac is placed.
