BANANAQUIT (Coereba flaveola) IMG_7710

Trinidad - West Indies

This small, active nectivore is found in warmer parts of the Americas, and is generally common. It sometimes pierces flowers from the side, taking nectar without pollinating the plant. It cannot hover like a hummingbird, and must always perch while feeding. It will also eat fruit and insects.
