Tortoise beetle larva

I keep trying to find and then photograph, these tiny little beetle larvae, because they intrigue me. Thus far, I am having luck finding them, but not getting the best of shots (the next one is my best to date). However, I uploaded this because it shows how tortoise like this larva is. You can see the head and legs poking out. And of course, on its back is its shield of poop! When disturbed, it flips the shield up, then lowers it quickly. I put it on my knapsack to try to get better contrast but it didn't really work.

They are amazing Christine! Great idea to put them on the knapsack. It is turtle like.

I think the knapsack does give good contrast. What a strange little bug it is. V.
