Fishing spider (Dolomedes sp.), female

Rockcliffe Park

This large spider was sitting underneath a rotting bracket fungus (Ganoderma sp.). Although associated with water, they can be found quite some distance from it. There were two on the tree stump on which the fungus was situated. The females measure about 24mm or more.
