Flower longhorn beetle (Gaurotes cyanipennis)

Found in a conservation area this morning on a hike. This brilliant green beetle stood out, even on green vegetation. Apparently it also comes in a purple variation. That would be something to see! It is native to North America, and also to Europe. They nectar on flowers and possibly also eat pollen.

I would love to see this purple variety! I'm wondering if it's diet of fairy food like nectar and pollen contribute to that lovely purple color. ;)
