Purple nightshade (Solanum dulcamara)

This is a non-native twining plant in the potato family. It is common alongside trails and in 'waste' land. Once these pretty little flowers vanish, they replaced by shiny bright red berries which are toxic. Probably not fatal unless you eat a bowl full, but you could feel rather unwell.

It's hard to photograph the wild nightshade around here because the flowers are always pointing downward. Strangely the flowers of the nightshade in my yard point up. I suppose they're a different species though. They don't produce berries.
