Dogbane beetle (Chrysochus auratus) on milkweed

Summer wouldn't be summer without a sighting of these gorgeous jewel-like beetles. They are normally found on spreading dogbane, but will sometimes sit on nearby vegetation - in this case some common milkweed. These beetles can be shades of blue, green, yellow, red, burgundy and even orange. These were found at the Elbow Lake reserve/
