A very small but common beetle appearing in early summer and found on a variety of flowering plants. In this case red clover, but also found on buttercups, yarrow, ox-eye daisy. They can also be red and black as well as this colour. Notice the long hairs on this beetle (hairs on a beetle you say!)? This is one way to identify the Cleridae, or checkered beetle family.
