Ants

I've been turning over rocks and logs for some time now, hoping to see a snake or a salamander or beetles or.... So far I've seen a cricket, a few ground beetles, and lately, lots of ants have started making an appearance again. I thought these tiny ones were quite lovely and shiny. Not sure of the species at the moment.

Very nice capture, Christine. Makes me want to be an ant and join the queue to see what's happening! ;)

Interesting shaped abdomens on these ants. It's kind of hard to tell which end is the head and which is the abdomen. I've been turning over rocks and logs too but so far I've only found woodlice/pillbugs.
