Well, I came across this image by browsing most popular galleries, and to be honest I am somehow puzzled. I am just not sure why this image receives so much attention or "breathtaking" critiques. When looking at it I see the type of image I have seen plenty of times before, simply composition with a guy on the beach, nice light etc, but I don't find anything breathtaking about it.
Sorry.

Wonderful shot....the shadows of the fisherman and the pole, the colors, the compositon....I agree, it gets a vote from me, too!
purpod03-May-2005 01:35
Gorgeous images; I agree, the fisherman has got a "painter's feel" to it. The cove shot is just stunning. Who's the Woman?! lolol. You go Girl ~
JeremyGood03-May-2005 00:53
I like the whole series of pictures, nicely done.
jude03-May-2005 00:47
There is a painterly feel to this.. really well composed
Dennis Steinauer03-May-2005 00:37
Beautiful. I particularly like the way the sea and shore interact to create the jagged border -- with the fisherman bridging the two. I guess this breaks the "rule of thirds" -- and does it beautifully.
Cheryl Hawkins03-May-2005 00:34
Love how the water reaches up onto the beach, and the sand looks so clean. This is very tranquil.
Yvonne03-May-2005 00:33
At the ebbing tide...no footprints except those of the fisher and a dog! Superb Laine...were you on a jetty? The lighting is just perfect!
Guest 03-May-2005 00:26
What a great shot, Laine! The muted tones of the beach are a great contrast to the bold green and blue on the man. I really like the simplicity and peace of it. Very nice.
Guest 03-May-2005 00:21
Wonderful image of solitude with nature!
