Starting to turn a garage into yet other sleeping quarters.

Finished result is 'Standy'- a play on words.

This old garage was built to hold excess canoes, paddles, sunfish sails, etc. During the 60's, and 70's when we would stay at the Gadget with our family and friends who had young, growing families also, the Garage was turned into the "PAD" which included 'artwork' and decorations of those times. Usually the girls would sleep out here. Scary tho since the garage as well as the Gadget had no electricity. No facilities in the garage either.

3 years ago Dad decided we needed 'more' space (I think he was just bored) and decided to rehab the now rundown garage. He made it a point, in good Yankee frugailty, that he would use only stuff that came out of the garage for the rehab. Did pretty well. Only added 2 windows on the south side (which prob. cost more that the original structure). Everything else was scrapped.

We had a 'name that house' contest, which he won. I thought the 'Honeymmon Suite' was the best since it has the only double bed out of the 3 houses, but 'Standby' got the nod. Standby is the term used if you get down to the ferry early and wait. Or miss the boat and wait. Sometimes a really long tme. So the garage was meant to take the overflow or house those waiting to get into the Gadget for their week. Now, some are requesting 'Standby' in addtion to either the Gadget or Palace in their rental weeks. OY!
